………..Lovers often say only death can separate them, but K and Cream has shown that the death itself will reunite them……….
The Korean sad movie More than blue
They did know that they were good friends and for long they lived together like a family. But it took them longer to realize that they are in love with each other, when their lives were about to turn separate ways.
K (Sang-woo Kwon) and Cream (Bo-young Lee) are the key Characters in this romantic movie. They both are orphans, may be this is what brought them together, as they had no one else to rely on. They moved in together and looked after each other on a thin line bordering family, friends and unconsummated lovers. They also worked in the same entertainment company.
As time went on, K felt his love for Cream getting stronger. But for the sake of his terminal cancer, he couldn’t express what he had in his heart to Cream. Even when Cream asked why she can’t marry K, he never told the truth. Cream was always afraid of being alone and used to switch boyfriend often. On the other hand, K’s love was all about for the best of Cream, that’s why he wanted her to find and marry someone who will love her, may be as much as K would do. At a moment, he did make the biggest wish of his own in front of Cream hoping she would find a perfect gentleman to marry and be settled with happily.
Meanwhile, Cream took interest in a well-known dentist, Cha Joo Hwan. It was heartbreaking for K to see his loved one falling for Cha Joo Hwan, but we know what his “biggest wish” was. So he was also happy that Cream has found someone at last. Even when it was found that Cha Joo Hawn is already engaged to another girl, K took the matter in his own hand and requested that girl to leave Cha. On a strange condition that K will allow that girl to take some photographs of him, she agreed to leave Cha.
Things started rolling on the very track K paved. Cream started dating Cha and soon decided to marry him. K made a plan to conceal his demise by making a story that he’s going to US for study. He also behaved rough with cream, to make her forget him.
But one day Cream accidentally came to know about K’s disease and did realize how much she herself loves K. From this moment on, story of the movie was told from Cream’s perspective. And we come to know that she chose Cha only to fulfill K’s wish after she tried to get K telling he loves her, but yet K didn’t tell. She desperately looked for any sign of love from K, but couldn’t.
Dear readers, let us guess what happened next. Just remember this is no ordinary love story. Then what she did actually? To know that, you have to watch the movie, i won’t spoil the drama. All i can say that i was spellbound after the finishing. You will never see what’s coming and will get caught completely off guard.
The on screen performance of Sang-woo Kwon and Bo-young Lee was more than natural. Especially Sang-woo Kwon could successfully depict his untold love by his powerful and accurate facial expression, drawing even the last bit of sympathy from the viewers. You can barely hold your tears when you see that he’s asking the earlier fiancé of Cha to send flowers for Cream on behalf of him, even after his death.
On the side of cons, this movie was little fast paced sometimes, particularly when it was being shown on Cream’s perspective. And there were few unnecessary characters, like “Cat-Girl”, whose only job was maybe to spoil the ambient tune of this lovely drama.
As his first ever directorship, Tae-Yeon Won did very good. And he really played with the emotion of the audience. Especially the way this story was told, is excellent. Special credit will be awarded to the writer, and that is Tae-Yeon Won again.
Bottom line is, this movie is absolutely recommended for those who love romantic movies. And you may try to keep your loved one beside while watching. You will thank me later on.
TRIVIA: K and Cream are not the actual name of the main Characters. It’s only between them, named by themselves. Can you tell what their real names are in the movie?
